Minusinsky Lapot
Minusinsky Lapot is a distinctive Russian heirloom from the celebrated tomato-growing region of Minusinsk, Siberia. Its unusual name comes from the traditional Russian lapot, a broad woven bast shoe, referring to the characteristic wide, substantial shape of the fruits.
The large pink to raspberry-red tomatoes typically weigh around 300–500 g, developing broad, slightly flattened beefsteak-style fruits. Inside, the flesh is dense, exceptionally meaty and juicy, with a rich, sweet and beautifully balanced old-fashioned tomato flavour.
Plants are vigorous and indeterminate, requiring good support for their heavy crop. A fascinating Minusinsk heirloom combining unusual history, substantial meaty fruits and superb traditional flavour
